On Wednesday 26th April all the students from Beech and Oak class participated in the School Games Day.
The main purpose of the day was for the students to celebrate and recognise the sport they have taken part in during the academic year. It also allowed them try more sports, some of which they may not have tried before. The day started with an opening ceremony, where the core values of the school games which are Passion, Determination, Team-Work, Respect, Honesty and Self-Belief were explained to the children.
The students were split into their school houses which allowed the older and younger students to mix and compete together. In their houses they represented four different countries. Mars France, Jupiter America, Venus Spain and Saturn Australia, with each house having flags to represent their country. The day involved four different sports dodgeball, handball, tri-golf and archery. Each house had four twenty minute slots for them to try each of the sports.
We finished with a closing ceremony, where we handed out awards for students whom we felt had represented the school games core values particularly well throughout the year in lessons as well as in inter and outer school events.
