About the play…
Hercules and the 12 Tasks' is a Greek play that tells the myth of Hercules and his attempt to gain immortality. The goddess Hera and King Eury are jealous of Hercules’ power and make him an offer he can’t refuse. He must complete twelve deadly tasks in exchange for his immortality. Hercules will have to battle lions, ferocious birds, boars and even a nine-headed monster to become a god and live on Mount Olympus with his father Zeus.
This performance is told out loud by a Greek chorus and can be acted out with shadow puppets and by performers in masks. Each task will be told in different ways and allow the club to be imaginative with their storytelling ideas and prop making skills. This story allows children the opportunity to easily switch masks and characters and play many different roles throughout the play.
This show will be performed towards the end of term, before Christmas. An invitation will be sent out in the first couple of weeks of rehearsals.
We look forward to seeing you there!
